It is a Medusa PRO... but most importantly, it is Balz Müller's signature model for Sabfoil.

Designed specifically for superior acceleration and high top speeds, this front wing features incredible pop, and thanks to the super strong T8 connection, it is the ideal choice for Power Freestyle sessions and the execution of advanced aerial maneuvers.

In this Balz Pro version, the surface area has been increased to allow takeoff at lower speeds, and the dihedral angle was diminished to improve maneuverability and rebound performance after landing for easier consecutive aerial maneuvers. The fact that the dihedral angle has not been brought to zero and the presence of the twist at the tips still ensure an excellent degree of stability during acceleration, fast free riding, and while surfing.

SAB WMP909 front wing review 28Nov2025 SMZ

Received the SAB909 today on 28Nov2025 via Courier, and was able to try it the same day late in the afternoon in a light E/NE Wind to 11knots with a 5.0m2 sail on a 115L foil board.

I’m only able to compare the 909 to the smaller Onda WO835 front wing which I’ve been riding for more than a year previously, at this stage.

First impressions: the 909 feels more stable in the ride, tracks upwind just as well as the 835 and has better downwind glide than the 835.

The 909 is more stable in the turns compared to the 835, likely because of its slightly larger wing span and surface area, with a noticeably longer downwind glide time allowed and with easier footwork. It also feels just as agile under foot (yaw) and has improved lift control. (Being a light sailor at 70kg, I’ve always struggled with lift control in gusty wind conditions.)

I’m keen to take the 909 out in more windier conditions as soon as they occur here to test it out for speed and wave height and wave periodicity handling.

So far, I’m quite pleased with the 909 on first impressions, giving it a four and a half star tick of approval, and very keen to try it in more windier/nuclear conditions with smaller sails.
